Passage

Neutron stars are among the densest objects in the universe, formed when massive stars collapse under gravity during a supernova explosion. A typical neutron star packs roughly 1.4 times the mass of the Sun into a sphere approximately 20 kilometres in diameter. Their immense gravitational fields cause time dilation, meaning clocks on their surfaces run measurably slower than those far away. Some neutron stars rotate hundreds of times per second, emitting beams of radio waves that make them detectable as pulsars. These rapid rotations gradually slow over millions of years as the star loses energy.
